News Editor/Site Manager Wanted
Do you love developing and publishing journalism that engages, updates, guides, and explains? Do you also enjoy leading team members towards common goals? Then this is the role for you.
We are now looking for a sharp news editor who loves creating a great newspaper website!
As one of our two news editors, you will always be at the center of events and lead the daily news work with publications for maximum impact.
You will work in a creative, fast-paced environment with a high news pulse where unexpected events in society can quickly change all plans for the day. You will help spread knowledge, information, and socially important journalism that a large part of the population in our areas engages with.
You and the other news editor will together lead and distribute work for a group of about 15 reporters. You will coach and develop team members through feedback and goal tracking.
The news editor we are now seeking also has the role of site manager, which means primary responsibility for what meets readers on Norran.se, in our app, and on social media. Therefore, you are someone who thrives on leading work during fast-paced major news events, but also elevates other types of storytelling.
You will work based on our strategies and analyze outcomes to share knowledge with the team, but also take your own initiatives to develop our journalism and its presentation, whether it be text, image, sound, or video.
The editorial team focuses heavily on digital publications where we always work with readers' needs at the center. You will be offered a stimulating and creative journalistic environment with skilled colleagues at one of Sweden's strongest local newspapers.
As a news editor/site manager, you will be part of the editorial management team and may also be considered as a deputy publisher.
Skellefteå is a place where much is happening, and thousands of jobs are expected to be created within the green transition in the coming years. The cultural and entertainment scene is growing, and the ice hockey club Skellefteå AIK attracts great interest. Additionally, Norran has a strong position in Norsjö, Malå, Arvidsjaur, and Arjeplog.
We are looking for someone with a strong commitment and interest in local journalism. You have a journalism degree or equivalent work experience and several years of experience working in a news editorial team. You do not need to have experience in a leadership position; we place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
To thrive in this role, we see that you are curious, solution-oriented, driven, and excellent at collaborating. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where unplanned tasks occur, all to capture and present the most important news in the best way.
You are creative and ensure that ideas become reality. You are stylistically skilled and sharp in headline writing, image presentation, social media, and video. You love leading and developing team members but also enjoy giving feedback, following up on goals, and setting expectations.
A driving license (B) is necessary as driving is part of the job.
We are a values-driven company that strives for equality and diversity and therefore values applicants with different backgrounds and experiences.
To ensure a safe and secure workplace, we conduct background checks on selected candidates as part of our recruitment process.
Selection is ongoing, and the position may be filled before the deadline, so do not wait to submit your application.
For questions, please contact the recruiting manager: Per Sandberg, 070-2604123, [email protected].
For union inquiries, please contact Adam Savonen (SJF), 073-1509333, [email protected].
